Costa Coffee Reopens, Asda closing and other news from Hale Barns and Hale Village
We are pleased to announce that Costa Coffee in Hale Barns has now reopened only months after it closed. It is now a franchise rather than being owned wholly by Costa. There have been some changes - popular opinion in the neighbourhood is that the staff are a lot more friendly. The cafe interior has been repainted and updated with new lighting and more tables and chairs - so there is less chance of arriving and there being nowhere to sit during busy periods as was the case with the previous Costa.
Asda is closing on 31st July 2026 to make way for the new Waitrose opening in it's place (estimated opening is November). Waitrose has declined to comment about a cafe, but rumours are that there won't be a cafe in the new Waitrose, which is a shame because the Booths cafe proved so popular. Although, fortunately locals will still have Costa.
At Halebarns.com we are looking forward to the changes and hope The Square will be more at the centre of the local community.
In Hale Village there have been some changes - unfortunately Costellos Electrical has closed down as the business has gone into administration. It is a big loss for the village because not only was the store excellent for bulbs, vacuum cleaners, repairs and other electrical items, it also provided electrician services to the local area. Graham - the popular man who worked at the store, providing a friendly excellent service, has now happily got a job at Waitrose in Knutsford.
Also in Hale Village, Thornley Groves has closed it's branch there, and the Pavilion Cafe has also suddenly closed.
